The First Church of Danvers is a small community of people, ranging in age from two to ninety-four, who genuinely care about one another and who happily welcome visitors and newcomers.
We are married and single, retired and working, parent and children, gay and straight, long-time disciples of Christ and the curious seekers, with many in-between. We are both reverent and fun-loving, noisy and still, practical and full of hope.
All are welcome to join us for Coffee Hour in our Fellowship Hall following worship on the first Sunday of each month!”
“Make a joyful noise to God, all the earth. Worship God with gladness; Come into God’s Presence with singing.” Psalm 100
The heart of our life together as a faith community is weekly worship. Our shared hope is that each of us will experience the living Presence of God whose Love will shape and give meaning to our lives.
We gather each Sunday morning for a traditional and informal service of thanksgiving and praise. The elements of our service include prayer, preaching, and participation. On occasion, Rev. Judy will lead a sacred conversation with the congregation, or offer a 6-word message along with a hymn sing.
“ True, whole prayer is nothing but love.” St. Augustine
We believe in the power of prayer. We have seen what prayer can do. We understand that prayer changes things. Prayer guides our decision-making. Prayer lights our way. Prayer strengthens and empowers our lives. Prayer brings our hearts closer to the Divine Heart that aches for the world. It is through prayer that we come to know God in a more personal way, the way that Jesus taught.
